Is An SMSTS Training Course Right For Me?
If you work within the construction or civil engineering industry, the more you know about your site management responsibilities, the better. A key part of the training course is to complete exercises including four core exercises pertaining to the Plan, Do, Check & Act (HSG65) requirements, as well as case studies and assessments on conducting site briefings and how to set up a construction or civil engineering site.
How Long Is The SMSTS Training Course?
Our SMSTS training course can be attended at one of our training locations, or we are able to offer training remotely via Zoom.
It is a full time course that is completed over five days. During the training, attendees will be expected to complete a variety of exercises to the satisfaction of the trainer. In addition, we expect a 100% attendance rate from each candidate; attending every training session ensures a better pass rate as well as being a mandatory requirement in order to take the exam.
At the end of the training course, attendees will be required to sit an exam that demonstrates their competency. It consists of 25 questions, 18 of which are multiple choice and seven are written. You will need to achieve an 81% pass rate to receive your SMSTS certification.
An SMSTS certification is valid for five years from the date of course completion. However, we would recommend you attend an SMSTS refresher course after approximately three years as legislation changes on a regular basis. Our refresher courses, which are usually over two days, will ensure you are completely up-to-date with the latest rules, regulations and guidance.
